Quality product, easy installation, fit just about any bike Sep 29, 2012

Okay, let me start by saying that I rarely write reviews of products. I am a bicycle commuter, and for the past 17 years I have consistently put more miles on my bikes each year than I do a vehicle. I say this to let you know that I have tried just about every load-carrying solution on the planet.
I stubbled across this rack earlier this year and after doing some research, decided to pull the trigger on it. A problem I've always had with racks/panniers is heel clearance; I wear a size 13.5-14 shoe. I first installed this rack on my primary commuter bike. It's a steel-framed 1x9 that has eyelets for racks/fenders but the chainstay is not particulary long, about the length of your average road/racing bike. After installing it, I threw on my oversized Ortlieb panniers and sure enough, about 2 inches of clearance behind my heels. I was almost in disbelief. So then I installed in on my steel-framed single speed bike with an even shorter chain stay and guess what? It worked!! This rack moves the panniers back, down and away from ANY potential heel clearance issues. If it will work for my big feet, it will work for yours. Oh, and I should mention I of course run 175mm crankarms on all my bikes.
Durability: I now own four of these racks. I have 2 on commuter bikes, 1 on a dedicated touring bike and I installed one on my fiance's bike. Not a single issue. I have toured with this rack on rough roads with loads up to about 30lbs, have done numerous errand/grocery shopping runs with loads exceeding 40lbs.
One more thing I should mention as sort-of a comparison: I work at an outdoor speciality retail store. We are an Ortlieb/Tubus dealer. I can get Tubus racks at COST, however, I never purchased Tubus racks because even at wholesale cost they were between $100-$130. Some of my coworkers have the expensive Tubus racks, and even though they are nice and have a much nicer finish, this PAKRAK rack is a bit more solid, has more mounting options/heel clearance.
Bottom line: don't hesitate in this purchase and mounting it to your bike. You won't regret it.

Great Rack for Commuting with Ibera Commuter Bag Jan 08, 2012

I stumbled upon this rack at an LBS, together with the quick-release commuter bag. The shop sold me both at a great discount. I put the rack on my road bike and found the rack/bag setup to be great for commuting. The rack is sturdy, easily installed, and looks good on the bike.
I wanted a second rack for my poor weather bike so I could easily use my new bag on both bikes, but the shop didn't have a second one. Amazon to the rescue! I purchased the second rack at a great price through Amazon, and the super saver shipping was much faster than expected.
I highly recommend this rack, especially when used with the quick-release commuter bag from Ibera. Bicycle Quick-release Commuter Bag

Solid Rack! Jun 04, 2013
By J. Bailey I just installed the rack and it is very stable and well made. One thing to note is I flipped the connectors at the top around so they were wider apart and not rubbing tougher. It appears to be just as stable the opposite way. If your rear attachment points on your frame are far apart you will not have this issue. I bet I could stand on the rack without it breaking (but not going to try!).
I will be using this rack heavily so we will see if it holds up the test of time. Hopefully the panniers made by Ibera PakRak are just as good.
I almost went for the Topeak rack instead but did not because their panniers did not look as good. I think the Topeak rack is probably just a good but some minor things to note: 1. The Topeak rack can not be adjusted up or down like this one. 2. The top attachment on the Topeak looks flimsy compared to this one. Given it is a little harder to install the top connector to the frame on the Ibera but on the trail I think it will hold up better. 3. This rack curves up at the back which might be good for some use but I have a tent that is longer then the rack and wish it was just flat like the Topeak.
Overall 5 stars for now, will update it after 180 mile trip with it this weekend. ***Update*** After 185+ miles with this rack it is still solid and very well worth it. The Ibera Clip-on Panniers work well with it but it says to not take these off road. I was on gravel with mud, pot holes, and some curb jumps...overall they worked but was afraid the clips would break off. The frame is extremely sturdy and can hold just about as much weight as you can manage to put on it.

GREAT Dec 26, 2012
By rowill I use my bike daily for commuting to/from work and thus far it has worked exceptionally well. It's not made for off-road but for my purposes it's awesome.

Perfect Nov 18, 2012
By Brian Gibson I bought this rack and the bag. It was easy to install (relative to the last rack) and super sturdy. It lets me bike to work without the heavy backpack. That makes the ride much nicer.
